Terra Festival 2017, 14e édition/ Terra Festival 2017, 14th edition
Samedi 25 mars, au Lamentin en Guadeloupe, le Terra Festival 2017 présentait sa dernière séance. L’association TERRA Festival régie par la loi de 1901 a été créée en novembre 2008. Son objectif est de gérer le TERRA Festival en partenariat avec les organismes créateurs du festival, le Parc National de la Guadeloupe et la municipalité du Lamentin.
Lors de cette 14 ème édition, 55 projections grand public (sans compter les séances scolaires), 22 communes cette année (contre 16 l’an passé), 5 courts métrages et 5 long métrages en compétition ont animé les 9 jours de festival, alimentés de la contribution d’une pléiade d’intervenants.
Parmi les invités, deux militants confirmés, appartenant à deux sphères différentes, attestent de la volonté du Terra à considérer la Terre dans sa globalité :
La présidente d’honneur, Nathalie Minatchy – ingénieure agro alimentaire – connue pour son implication dans la défense de l’agriculture paysanne, partage ce point de vue. Elle considére que l’une des forces du Terra est de montrer comment des problèmes locaux sont universels.
Quant à Alain Bougrain Dubourg – invité d’honneur – journaliste, producteur et réalisateur, dont le militantisme appelle à l’admiration, il s’est prêté au jeu d’une signature dédicace autour de son ouvrage “Il faut continuer de marcher” paru chez La Martinière en 2015.
Alain Bougrain Dubourg est né à Paris en 1948. Il a présenté et produit de nombreuses émissions sur la vie animale à la télévision (Terre des bêtes, Animalia…) ou à la radio (Vivre avec les bêtes) ainsi que plusieurs documentaires. Président de la Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux depuis 1986, il est administrateur de la Fondation pour la Recherche sur la Biodiversité. Membre du Conseil économique, social et environnemental (CESE) et du Conseil National de la Transition Ecologique, il intervient sur tous les fronts pour préserver la biodiversité et le climat (La Martinière).
Quand on sait que l’Outre mer constitue plus de 80% de la biodiversité française, on comprend qu’un tel festival soit labellisé COP21.
Organisateurs, producteurs, invités, partenaires et média, tous ensemble, chacun dans son domaine d’expertise, ont fait de cette 14 ème édition une brillante réussite.
Le pari de Terra Festival
Son pari? Promouvoir les films documentaires, auprès du plus grand nombre, sur l’environnement et le développement durable, afin d’encourager et d’accompagner l’évolution des habitudes, s’agissant de la préservation de la planète. Avec le concours dynamique des bibliothèques et médiathèques de l’archipel, le festival crée la proximité, d’autant plus qu’avec les projections en plein air, il permet à tous de participer, sans protocole.
Pari réussi. même si elle le dit à demi mot, la présidente Martine SORNAY, en témoigne avec passion et objectivité:

On Saturday, March the 25th , in Lamentin Guadeloupe, the Terra Festival 2017 was coming to an end. The TERRA Festival association, governed by the law of 1901, was created in November 2008. Its objective is to manage the TERRA Festival in partnership with the festival’s creative organizations, the national park of Guadeloupe and the municipality of Lamentin.
During the 14th edition, there were 55 public screenings (not counting the school sessions), 22 municipalities this year (compared with 16 last year), 5 short films and 5 feature films in competition that punctuated the 9 days of the festival, fed by the contribution of a plead of guests.
Among the guests, two confirmed activists, belonging from two different spheres, underlines the Terra’s desire to consider the Earth as a whole:
Honorary President Nathalie Minatchy – an agro-food engineer – known for her involvement in the defense of peasant agriculture, shares this point of view, considering that one of the Terra’s strengths is to show how local problems are universal.
As for Alain Bougrain Dubourg – guest of honor – journalist, producer and director, whose activism calls for admiration, he was invited for signing of his book « Il faut continue de marcher« published by La Martinière In 2015.
Allain Bougrain Dubourg was born in Paris in 1948. He has presented and produced numerous programs on animal life on television (Terre des bêtes, Animalia …) as well on the radio (Vivre avec les bêtes) and several documentaries. President of the League for the Protection of Birds since 1986, he is an administrator of the Foundation for Research on Biodiversity. He is a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (EESC) and the National Council for Ecological Transition. He works on all fronts to preserve the biodiversity and the climate.
Overseas France constitutes for more than 80% of French biodiversity. Needless to say, that this festival is labeled COP21.
Organizers, producers, guests, partners and media, all together, each in its field of expertise, have made this 14th edition a brilliant success.
The Terra Festival is here to promote to the greatest number , documentary films on the environment and sustainable development, in order to encourage and accompany the evolution of the habits, with a concern to the preservation of the planet. With the dynamic competition of the libraries and multimedia libraries from the archipelago, the festival creates proximity, particularly with the projections outdoors, it allows all to participate, without protocol.
